Hooray.... I'm pregnant!

London Staycation

We spent the last three weeks cat-sitting in a great terraced house in Highbury. 

 

 

 

 

 

During our time in the house, Nicholas worked on a clay bust of yours truly.

We were back in our flat for only a few hours when the happy home owners called us up.  It seems their next door neighbours were left high and dry by their house-sitter.  Would you believe that, after only two nights back at Paddington, we are now living next door to the cat house for the next three weeks?!

For so long now I have been meaning to post pictures from our honeymoon, but, with hundreds of photos to wade through, the task was just too daunting.  Now I'm off the hook... Nicholas recently made a little video with some of the shots.   Enjoy!

Dùn Èideann!

Not so long ago, we returned from a wonderful week in Edinburgh.  The Royal Geographical Society's annual conference brought us there, but after four days and sixty odd talks (not all my own!), Nicholas and I spent a few delightful days in this magical mossy city, wandering the foggy streets.  We stayed in the most stunning accommodation -- a pre-birthday treat and a far cry from our London digs.  [Thank you!!!]  Here are a few images of our final days in Athens of the North.

Happy Jubilee, all!  Although I didn't make it to the soggy Thames flotilla today, I did make it to the garden party at Goodenough College on Friday.  It was the sunniest day of the long weekend (and still pretty grey).

The Queen was there, of course,

as was the Victoria sponge!

I spend much of my time at the face-painting table,

painting sweet, sticky ice-cream faces.

up, up, and away!

Tomorrow morning we leave for Greece and Turkey, and I haven't even shared my last adventure.  Last weekend I returned from teaching the NYC field course again, with undergraduates from my Department. They were a great bunch. Here are some shots from the week away, sans captions I'm afraid. They include a shot of the first bunch of NY Marathon runners who flew by my hotel window.
